Kevin's Law: Food Bourne Illness: This law came around when a 2-year-old boy, Kevin, died from E. coli poisoning after eating a hamburger. His kidneys began to fail and he ended up dying within 12 days. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say that many people die, get very ill, or hospitalized each year from food bourne illness.
Diabetes and Obesity: High calorie, sugar processed foods are becoming a huge contributor to weight gain and unhealthy lifestyles. Bad food is less expensive because they have more calories, example: McDonalds. This is not only unhealthy, but it is a major crisis for the person eating the food.
Factory Farming: Billions of animals are raised and killed under inhumane conditions every year in factory farms. It has become very unsanitary for workers and communities surrounding, as well as our food system. Bacteria from the animals contributes to the unsanitary issue.
Pesticides: Cancers, autism and neurological disorders are associated with the use of pesticides especially amongst farm workers and their communities.
Farm Worker Protection: Farm workers are our source of our everyday meals and food. They deserve the government's protection and right to good wages and access to shade and water.  Millions of mexican workers are going out of work and the government is cracking down on many more.
The Global Food Crisis: About 1 billion people worldwide do not have fair access to food, including 36 million in the US. International and national food policies have a part in creating this crisis.
Cloning: The FDA approved the selling of meat and milk from cloned livestock. It's a new thing and the FDA wants to allow the sale without labeling.
